Ramp Up to AP Computer Science

This course is equivalent to our Introduction to Java course, but with additional emphasis on AP readiness. Both courses cover the same topics, but our Ramp Up to AP Computer Science course contains material from previous AP Computer Science classes at Saratoga High School. This course is only available during the summer. No previous programming experience required! Topics covered include:

  • Basic Java Syntax

  • Primitive and Non-primitive data types

  • Conditional statements, Boolean algebra, and DeMorgan's Law

  • For and While loops

  • Utilization of built in methods and libraries

  • Basic data structures

  • Class declaration and creation

  • What to expect in an AP CS Class and AP CS Test

Required Materials: Laptop (Windows is preferred), JDK 1.8 installed, IntelliJ Java IDE
